Flashy Nonito Donaire Has A Wish List

Having been misunderstood lately over the Pacquiao and Marquez ordeal last week, Nonito Donaire knocked out Jorge Arce to retain his title. The “Filipino Flash” made up for the loss that Pacquiao suffered and has sent Arce into retirement as he retained his WBO super bantamweight title with the knockout victory. A similarity of the exact time that Pacquiao went out in, 2 minutes and 59 seconds , was ironic although Daonair finished it in the 3rd while Pacquiao went down in the 6th round.

He has proven time and time again that he is the best pound for pound in his division and has completed a very high percentage of wins. He said after his fight to HBO, “I went there and pretty much timed him, we said that he was going to open up, he was a tough guy and he actually got me in the body, I caught him with a good straight hand and that hook came in.”

Donaire did floor the Mexican once in the second round and once again in the third round, before he knocked Arce at the end of the third round. Jorge” Los Michos” Arce announced his retirement after the fight, even though he previously beat Wilfredo Vasquez, his career was very colourful. He impressed everyone in his career after a four month lay-off he returned to the ring and won a WBO regional belt and he scored seven consecutive wins whilst working his way back up the rankings for another title shot.

He is in fact the second Mexican boxer to win a world title in four weight divisions. We may not see him sucking his cherry lollipop again with his cowboy hat, however he will be well remembered for his 61 fights.

Arce went on to say, “My career’s over, I’m happy leaving after the best man, I have my family to take care of and my children and I promised them If I lost, I would leave.”

Donaire stated that he would either like Abner Mares or Guillermo Rigondeaux for his next flashing fight.

End of the show respects were given by both boxers to Larry Merchant who retired after this fight with 35 years behind him.
