Hey everyone,
I get a ton of emails asking me how to train, how to lose weight, build muscle, etc... Here's my experience; I know what it's like to feel frustrated with diet and exercise. As a professional boxer I have to get weighed in front of hundreds of people with cameras! And then they announce your weight for everyone to hear. If you're over the contracted weight by even a fraction of a pound they announce that as well!
To top it all off I'm weighed wearing nothing more than a bikini! Talk about feeling vulnerable : (
So you see how important it is for me to maintain my weight, my job relies on it. Sometimes I wake up in
the morning and I feel like I don't want to train. I'm a single mom so I do not have a lot of time and
sometimes I just feel too tired. Not to mention I'm 44 now! As I got older, workouts just became harder and
harder. I didn't know what to do, but I knew I had to do something.
I quickly started trying to find short cuts that really worked. I wondered if I really needed to spend hours and hours
at the gym.How much stress did I really have to put my body through?
Through trial and error I realized that I didn't have to train 5 hours a day and torture my body with painful workouts. I could condense all my necessary workouts into one short workout. I combined my cardio training, for endurance and calorie burning with my resistance training, for strength and muscle toning all into one 45 minute workout. With my stretching, the workout ends up being an hour, but I was happy it was not the 5 hours I thought had to be done. I can even take a couple days off now. I am in better shape now than I ever have been.
It's also important to remember that diet is key. No, you don't have to starve, but you do have to limit your sodium and sugar intake. Not only what you eat, but when you eat is crucial as well. My biggest meal of the day is my breakfast, followed by a mid morning snack, a moderate lunch, then a light dinner. My meals consist of mostly protein and vegetables. I do throw in the occasional chocolate and ice cream though! Our diet will never be perfect so instead, strive for moderation or progress, not perfection.
You can find a complete list of my workouts and my personal meal plan along with recipes in my book, "The Knockout Workout". My boxing routine is a great workout for not only losing weight, but for getting toned, or if you just want to learn to box. Anyone can do it and once you know the basic routine, you can do it in your own home. You can get my book online at HERE , Amazon, or in book stores.
I can't wait to get you started! Y recuerdes, si se puede! You can do it!
