On the undercard of Jermain Taylor’s clear victory over Jeff Lacy, Super Middleweight contender Allan ‘Sweetness’ Green returned to the ring for the first time in over ten months and registered a 7th round TKO over former Jr. Middleweight champion Carl Daniels.
By many accounts the bout was very uneventful, with Green obviously shaking off some ring rust as he went to work against Daniels. Afterwards, the Tulsa, Oklahoma native himself admitted that he felt far from perfect while inside the ropes.
“My timing was definitely off,” Green told 8 Count News earlier today. “The main thing is that I got the win, but I definitely had a lot of ring rust. It felt good being back in the ring and I’m just focusing on the future.”
For his bout with Daniels, Green trained just under two weeks at Contender’s Gym in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Working Green’s corner last night was his head trainer John David Jackson as well as Noel Carbajal. Green is now turning his focus towards one more tune up fight before eventually tackling one of the division’s big names.
“I just want one more fight to really get myself ready,” Green states. “From there I am either looking at a bout with Jermain Taylor or Lucian Bute. I hope to have my next fight soon and I can’t wait to head back down to Florida to start getting ready again.”
