Straight From D Source:

If you didn’t see his fight against Steve Cunningham last December, then you definitely missed out on what a lot of boxing fans have called 2008’s fight of the year. Thomasz Adamek overcame Cunningham’s superior craft with his heavy hands en route to a thrilling split decision victory. The fight was telecast on the VS channel, but the last time I checked there’s videos of the entire fight posted on Youtube. Adamek is the first Polish boxing world champion and is revered in his homeland. He recently moved to America so he can fight the biggest names in the sport. Adamek is set to fight again on February 27 to be shown on VS. I caught up with Thomasz and his manager/ interpreter Ziggy Rozalski for an interview. We talked about his most recent fight against Cunningham and his future plans.

8COUNT – Good day fight fans! D Source, Dennis Guillermo is here for 8countnews.com together with IBO and IBF Cruiserweight champion Thomasz Adamek together with his translator Ziggy Rozalski. Thanks you for taking time out to do this interview guys.
ADAMEK – Thank you as well.
8COUNT – First of, Happy New Year! And how are you doing Thomasz?
ADAMEK – Good thank you. I feel good. I’m ready for my next fight.
8COUNT – There’s news out there that you’ll be fighting again on February 27 in New Jersey. Do you know who you will be fighting and if not who would you want to fight?
ADAMEK – Whoever Showtime picks, that’s who I’m going to fight.
8COUNT – A lot of people have called your victory over Steve Cunningham last December as the Fight of the Year and personally that was one of the best fights I’ve seen in a while. Tell me what that victory means to you.
ADAMEK – I like tough fights and tough guys like Cunningham and if my fans are pleased with the fight then I would do it again.
8COUNT – Are there any talks right now regarding giving Cunningham a rematch?
ROZALSKI (ADAMEK’S MANAGER/ TRANSLATOR) – Cunningham’s wife called me about maybe a month ago or maybe two weeks ago she called me looking for a rematch but you know with Cunningham we can do that later on but for now we’re just going to do the 27 (Feb. 27 scheduled fight) with Showtime and then Showtime is going to pick up on it.
8COUNT – I want to talk to you more about that fight. When you knocked down Cunningham the second time, during that round you seemed like he was putting some work on you. He was hitting you with a lot of punches. What was going through your mind and how were you able to knock him down before the round ended?
ADAMEK – I could take a punch and I showed him that at the end of the flurries I could still knock him down.
8COUNT – Did he hurt you at all?
ADAMEK – I wasn’t hurt at all.
8COUNT – Let’s talk about the crowd that night. You seemed to have the home court crowd advantage despite just moving to America. Tell us how you felt and how you have adjusted to the United States.
ADAMEK – All my Polish people know me and they know that I’m fighting in the New York area so they all showed up to my fight because I am the first Polish world champion.
8COUNT – And how have you adjusted to living in the United States?
ADAMEK – I love America! I love America! This is the Mecca of boxing. I get to fight the great fighters and I’m ready for my next fight.
8COUNT – You seem comfortable and you look good in the Cruiserweight. Do you have plans to go back to Light Heavyweight maybe to avenge your only loss to Chad Dawson?
ADAMEK – I’m 6 foot 3 inches tall and I’m a natural Cruiserweight and I had a very tough time making the weight for the Chad Dawson fight that why I was very weak and lost.
8COUNT – Do you have any goals for 2009? Any boxers out there you want to fight?
ADAMEK – I would like to fight the legends of the world in boxing. If Roy Jones Jr. would like to come up to my weight then I’d love to fight him. I want to fight in the big fights. I’m not afraid of anybody.
8COUNT – Definitely! And we do want to see you in those big fights too. And last but not the least, do you have any words to your fans out there especially your Polish fans and all the boxing fans out there?
ADAMEK – I want my Polish and American fans to enjoy my fights and I will fight hard for all of you.
8COUNT – Awesome! Thanks to you both for your time. Thanks for doing this interview with me.
ADAMEK – Thank you very much!
