SHOWTIME RESULTS
Timothy Bradley retained his title in a confusion festival against Nate Campell. Nate claimed between rounds that he could not see due to a headbutt sustained during round 3. The referee seemed confused as well, but the Showtime video replay was convincing. The video showed that it was clearly a headbutt, and the fight should have been ruled a no decision. The official score was a TKO 3 for Timothy Bradley. In a post fight interview with Timothy Bradley, he admitted that their heads did collide. Nate Campbell during his post fight interview showed emotion, and pleaded his case to the commission. Hopefully boxing will do what is right, and reverse this decision. Gary Shaw and Don King argued between one another after the fight as well. Shaw claimed that Campbell didn't want to fight anymore, and King quickly responded to the contrary. Time will tell how this one turns out.
Devon Alexander grabs the WBC Jr Welterweight world title compliments of Junior Witter's quitting on his stool. The fight was pretty much controled by Alexander throughout. A very emotional Alexander thanked his coach, and dedicated the win to his late father after the fight. Alexander kept saying, " I got it, I got it, and now I'm taking it back to St Louis." Witter was rocked a few times early in the fight with nice Alexander counerpunching. Then between rounds 8 and 9 Witter just walked across the ring, hugged Alexander and quit. In an interview with Jim Gray of Showtime, Witter explained that he had injured his elbow during round 4, and the injury prevented him from continuing on.
