Boxing's current title holders by country as of November 15, 2009
Three title belts changed hands last weekend as two champs were dethroned and one relinquished.
Hungary’s Zsolt Erdei officially vacated his WBO Light Heavyweight title to move up to the cruiserweight division. He will challenge WBC Cruiserweight title holder Giaccobe Fragomeni on November 21. Interim champion Juergen Braehmer of Germany was promoted to the full title. Hungary and its lone title have been removed from the list while Germany moves up to 7th tied with Japan and UK in the rankings.
Yuri Foreman of Belarus is added in the list by defeating Puerto Rico’s Daniel Santos and captured the WBA Super Welterweight title via unanimous decision.
Pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines made a strong argument to claim his third fighter of the year award by stopping Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico. The WBO Welterweight belt is Pac-man’s seventh title in seven weight classes. The Philippines moves up to fourth tied with Panama and Puerto Rico, who lost two titles Saturday.
