Former world title challenger Peter Manfredo Jr. (33-6, 18 KO’s) scored a 1st round TKO over New Orleans journeyman Ronald Weaver (29-19, 22 KO’s) Thursday evening in Maryland. It was Manfredo’s debut under the promotional banner of Chet Koerner’s TKO Boxing and 2nd consecutive knockout win since being stopped by Sakio Bika in October of last year in a super middleweight fight.
Manfredo weighed in for the fight at 166 pounds. However, he ultimately plans to return to the 160 pound middleweight division. Earlier this year he was a candidate to challenge middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik prior to Pavlik agreeing to a bout with Paul Williams.
For Weaver, it was his fifth consecutive loss. He hasn’t won a fight since 2002.
The fight was part of a charity event hosted by former Baltimore Raven offensive lineman Jonathan Ogden.
